Christmas is coming, are you looking for an easy-to-make and tasty dessert for your family’s holiday? Cupcakes are always a hit with all ages! It will be a wonderful experience to make yummy cupcakes with the kids and also an excellent treat to bring to parties over holidays.
Step 1: Choose a cupcake recipe
The easiest way to make cupcakes is to use a cake mix and follow the package directions. If you want to make from scratch, the recipe contains the following steps: creaming butter, beating in granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla and then alternately beating in the liquid and the flour mixture. After choosing a recipe, you can preheat the oven at 350°F.
Step 2: Pick a cupcake pan
If you want to make standard-size cupcakes, choose cupcake pans with 2-1/2-inch-diameter cups. For mini cupcakes, you can choose pans with 1-3/4-inch-diameter cups. It is also available with large 2-3/4-inch-diameter or jumbo 3-1/2-inch-diameter cups. For a unique look, you can also choose square muffin tins (found online or in specialty baking shops).
Step 3: Choose cupcake liners and fill cupcake liners
To make pretty cupcakes, line the pans with decorative cupcake liners. Fill the cupcake liners 3/4 of the way full. Avoid adding too much batter or the cupcakes will overflow from the cups as they bake and cause a mess.
Step 4: Bake cupcakes
Bake cupcakes into the preheated oven at 350°F for 15 to 22 minutes.
Here is a tip to test the doneness of cupcakes. Insert a toothpick into the center of cupcakes. If the toothpick is clean after being removed, the cupcakes are done. Otherwise, the cupcakes need to bake longer.
Step 5: Cool cupcakes
Cool cupcakes in the pan for 5 to 10 minutes before removing them. When they are very hot they are quite fragile. Cooling cupcakes for the recommended amount of time allows them to be removed from the pan without breaking or tearing. Use a thin metal spatula to help you lift the cupcakes from the pan.
Step 6: Frost and decorate cupcakes
After cupcakes are completely cooled, you can frost and decorate them as creatively as you want. Stir room-temperature frosting well before using. For simply frosted cupcakes, spread frosting with a small flat metal spatula. For more elaborately decorated cupcakes, you can use paste food coloring to color.
